In reply, gap batters Robin Uthappa (49) and Ravikumar Samarth (85 not out) got the guests off to a decent begin with a 93-run gap stand till the previous was sent back. Samarth anchored the innings and can lead the visiting team's charge Sunday.
Karnataka, back to the house team's initial innings score of 436, reached a hundred seventy five for 2 at the Wankhede construction. Mumbai, buoyed by maiden centuries from Siddhesh Lad and Nikhil Patil (both evaluation 106), value-added ninety four runs to their score before losing the remaining 5 wickets.
